Time for Oils

The oil stick line down it’s time to start with my oils. I am not usually one to squeeze out a full palette of colour, usually just 2-3 at a time. I did this time lay down the following; magenta, white, Prussian blue, orange, lemon, viridian and cadmium red – this was my starting palette.

Using a bristle, filbert brush I laid down the bud form first as this would be my focal point and worked from this with the same colours to other areas of the canvas. I was trying to give a diagonal point of entry into the work. It was my intention to keep overlaying the acrylic with oils. I wasn’t sure at this stage just how much of the acrylic to cover with oils.
