I have struggled lately with the lack of playfulness and joy that has become apparent in my art practice. My focus has been on the accuracy and result rather than the freedom and joy found in the process of creation. The excerpt from ‘Lifelabs’ below reminded me of the importance for my own art practice of balancing these two elements.
‘Being creative is meditative. Taking the time to use our hands, minds, and energy doing something we enjoy and that makes us happy is of highest importance in life. Creativity is fun, and doing anything that brings joy reduces our stress levels and improves our quality of life’.
