This little vase of (mostly) edibles accompanied us on a recent camping trip. Thought it pretty enough to paint. Naturally a few aspects changed in translation but happy with the end result which echoes back to a way of working from my art school days and my love of Van Gogh’s mark making.
I’ve added my colour palette to this post. It was the first time I had chosen my pastel sticks prior to painting. It definitely made for a more traditional and somewhat subdued work in comparison to previous paintings, I also opted not to use the contrasting colours of bright pink and strong blues. It was an interesting exercise.
