PANZ Convention 2023

The PANZ Convention has been a long time coming, but last weekend I flew south to Dunedin, hooked up with my lovely creative friend Penny, and drove to the beautiful old mining town of Arrowtown to attend the PANZ (Pastel Artists of NZ) Convention.

Wellington Airport – amazing!

Our first two days we attended a life drawing workshop with Dr Louisa Baillie – BEAUTY AND THE BODY. It’s been quite some years…25 to be exact, that I have challenged myself with life drawing. It was such an amazing workshop.

On the Sunday morning I demonstrated my semi-abstracted landscape process to the members. It was a privilege do so and share a few things about myself including my op shop bargains!

The completed demonstration piece – sold on the day.
About halfway through.
Inktense blocks base down, sketch above work as guide.

A further work inspired by the south island landscape just north of Alexandra.

From nappy bag…to happy pastel bag! Lots of pockets and places to store papers etc! 😁

Avon lipstick sample case makes a great travel case for my pastels.

I ended the demonstration with words from this amazing letter linked below.

A message to artists everywhere…

Keep on creating!💕
