I wonder if we all have a subject and/or medium where we feel safe to ponder for a while? Mine has to be charcoal, pastel and flowers. Another A3 sketchbook study with beginnings in water-soluable oil pastels. I enjoy the carefree scribbling and painterly blending with water...freedom.
A little colour therapy today!
It's usually the same, you just play about in your sketchbook relaxed and carefree and it comes out better than expected, but it's on paper that is too thin to frame. Spikey red dahlia…charcoal sketch.
There are an incredible variety of dahlia currently in bloom. My particular favourites are the loose spikey varieties. They remind of our trip to the Naritasan Shinshoji Temple in Japan where they grow and exibit the incredible range of chrysanthemums which began in 1883. https://images.app.goo.gl/4fQKAcWmbJmQwAjL7
